Aegis maintains engineering, sales, and support contracts with over 30 machine vendors. Vendors with machine sets as diverse as AOI, Dispensing, Printing, Reflow, SMT Placement, Auto and Semi Auto Insertion, and Wave. These relationships exist at several levels as defined in the Alliances section of the site. Below are some FAQs about the Alliances.

WHAT VALUE DO THESE ALLIANCES HAVE TO ME AS A CUSTOMER?

Machine programming, quality, traceability, and data acquisition all rely upon great depth of knowledge of machines, and the ability for the software vendor to obtain information about the machines and in some cases to have changes to the machines made. Aegis relationships with the vendors are cooperative rather than adversarial because Aegis works with them, rather than around their programming systems. These relationships enable Aegis to build better machine interfaces and better data acquisition systems for your machine, to support a superior factory solution.

CAN I PURCHASE AEGIS SYSTEMS FROM MY MACHINE VENDOR?

In many cases, yes. Most Aegis Alliance partners can resell the Product and Process Definition Modules. The enterprise systems are sold directly through Aegis in all cases.

IF A MACHINE IS NOT IN THE ALLIANCE LIST, DOES THAT MEAN AEGIS CANNOT PROGRAM OR MONITOR IT?

No. Aegis programs and acquires data from far more machines than in the Alliance list. Alliance partners have a special relationship with Aegis for resale and engineering integration, but Aegis integrates with virtually all commonly used machines.

MANY AEGIS STAFF MEMBERS KNOW A GREAT DEAL ABOUT THESE MACHINES. CAN I ASK FOR RECOMMENDATIONS WHEN I LOOK FOR MACHINES TO BUY?

Respectfully, no. By servicing many Alliance partners who are by nature competitive with one another, Aegis must maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality rules. Aegis employees are not permitted to provide opinions on machines or to discuss what Aegis customers own them, etc. Aegis can provide technical data on machine data acquisition and programming capability so that a customer may make their own comparisons across machines.
