WHAT GENERAL OS PLATFORM
PREFERENCES DOES AEGIS FOLLOW?
Aegis leverages Microsoft
technologies such as COM and .net extensively in its
enterprise architecture, as well as the fat-client
modules. The business logic components and clients
are Microsoft-centric. The data layer may be either
SQL Server or Oracle and can run on any OS
supporting these platforms.
DOES AEGIS HAVE A THEORETICAL
TRANSACTION LOAD LIMIT?
No. The infinite lateral
scalability of the system enables theoretical
handling of any load limit. Network traffic would
become a theoretical barrier before any limit could
be reached in the business logic.
HOW IS MY LICENSING CONTROLLED?
A single hardware key (USB
typically) is put on a server in the enterprise, or
optionally, several. A web service of Aegis' design
controls all enterprise-wide access to any component
automatically. Licenses are not anchored to
physical machines or seats.
HOW DOES AEGIS DELIVER STABLE
DATA ACQUISITION TO HUNDREDS OF DATA SOURCES AND
MACHINES IN A FACTORY?
-
At the side of data acquisition,
Aegis xLink employs
fault-tolerance technologies to ensure data
integrity following network failures as well as time
synchronization technologies to maintain and ensure
sequential integrity.
-
At the side of data reception,
analysis and storage, Aegis data monitoring servers
employ caching technology to ensure 100% data
recovery even in the event of a physical server
failure or crash mid-data-acquisition.
-
At the side of data
presentation, clients cache the operating data set
at the client in order to allow operation and
viewing even during a network failure of a common
data set.
DOES AEGIS HAVE ANY LEGACY CODE
FROM NON-32 BIT,
COM-BASED PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES OR PLATFORMS?
No.
DOES AEGIS MAINTAIN MULTIPLE CODE
BASES GLOBALLY?
No. A single code base is
maintained to enable high quality control.
DOES AEGIS USE SUBCONTRACTORS
IN ITS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT?
No. Aegis does not outsource
development as it believes quality control and rapid
evolution of the solutions demands that the
intellectual skill that developed the system must be
maintained in-house.
DOES AEGIS USE ACQUISITION AS A
MEANS TO PRODUCT EXTENSION?
No. Aegis either builds
solutions in-house, or it partners with companies
with complementary solutions and builds 'black-box'
interfaces between the solutions for seamless
interoperability.
