CIRCUITCAM LINE OPTIMIZERS STREAMLINE PCB ASSEMBLY
PROCESS
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Aegis Industrial Software’s CircuitCAM Line
Optimizer module streamlines the process of assigning tasks to various
points on a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly line. Line Optimizer
balances the line, eliminates bottlenecks, and simulates overall
throughput, while bypassing the process of manually assigning component
population. All of the data for Line Optimizer is stored in a Microsoft
Access® database.
Line Optimizer also calculates the optimal distribution of components,
rapidly taking into account more information than a human operator can
reasonably handle. The result is a line where each piece of process
equipment spends an equal amount of time on each PCB, eliminating
bottlenecks and building more boards in less time with less set-up.
Line Optimizer is also process intelligent. The software automatically
“knows” which machines and stations can handle particular parts and
preferences. For example, certain parts can be locked to certain process
equipment, which ensures that the end-product is consistently assembled
and only correct parts are used. The software also searches for
component height or footprint in order to verify that the proper part is
being placed.
Aegis develops CIM software for the electronics industry, capable of
optimizing every stage of PCB assembly. Aegis’ product suite automates
the conversion of CAD and BOM data into process documentation, machine
programs, and a variety of other outputs under enterprise-wide revision
control. CircuitCAM modules represent state-of-the-art CIM technology
built completely on Microsoft development platforms and utilizing modern
Windows software technologies such as OLE, video, audio, Internet
support, and fully open data architectures.
