For Immediate Release – April 2006
AEGIS EUROPE TO EXHIBIT NEW MECHANICAL CAD (MCAD)
MODULE FOR CIRCUITCAM
AT NEPCON UK 2006 IN BIRMINGHAM, STAND #H70
Aegis Europe, a subsidiary of Aegis Industrial Software Corporation
(Aegis), the leader in Manufacturing Information Management Systems,
will be exhibiting its new Mechanical CAD Module (MCAD) for CircuitCAM
at Nepcon 2006 NEC, Birmingham in stand #H70. This significant system
enhancement uniquely answers the increasing customer demand for an
end-to-end NPI through MES solution supporting electronics assembly,
system integration, and box build. An integral part of the greater Aegis
factory information system, MCAD supports box and mechanical product
documentation, tracking, quality and materials management as elegantly
as the solution currently supports circuit card product launch and
manufacturing execution. Aegis customers may now support any discrete
assembly processes—from circuit boards to full system level assembly—in
a single information system.
MCAD functionality is inherently incorporated within Aegis’ web-centric
manufacturing execution system (MES). Shop-floor operators may now step
through and drill into iView's existing sequential assembly process
feature with intelligent cross-reference to the mechanical components.
Aegis MES also supports multi-level assemblies and material setup
validation at any work station, and these assemblies are now better
depicted in the visual aids.
Jason Spera, Aegis’ CEO commented on the release, “Our customers find
value in the Aegis philosophy of support for the maximum scope of
factory information and execution functions. This MCAD system is a
direct response to this customer expectation, and is the result of the
highest ranking customer enhancement request received by Aegis in the
last 24 months. It constitutes a significant extension of our solution
to support the entirety of the manufacturing floor and process.”
Features and Benefits include:
• Support for common mechanical CAD vector file formats,
• Simple digitizing allows 2D capture from a 3D drawing with the desired
user-controlled perspective.
• A mechanical Shape Library permits re-use of commonly used items and
components, such as screws, spacers, nuts, etc.
• A dynamic color-coded parts list display in the visual aids provides
easy cross-referencing to the drawing in the same
manner used for circuit board visual aids.
