The impending regulatory
requirements regarding the elimination of lead from
assemblies and the declaration of materials within a
product have introduced new process and operational
challenges for manufacturers. The science of
processing these new materials is largely developed.
The operational impact of managing such processes
within the factory, and reporting upon the results
to meet regulations is a new challenge. Challenges
Aegis systems overcome.
OVERCOMING OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES
WITH AEGIS
-
Running processes involving
different consumable materials and components
within the same factory is a significant
operational challenge. Aegis assures materials
setups are compatible with the chemistry and
component materials of each product at each
station electronically and halts lines if they
are not.
-
Different materials require
different operator instructions. The Aegis
paperless systems assure the appropriate visual
aids and work instructions display per product
and per station.
-
Materials affect inspection
criteria and quality analysis. Aegis manages
different calculations and guides inspectors
through different inspection criteria
automatically per the configuration by process
engineers.
OVERCOMING REPORTING CHALLENGES
WITH AEGIS
-
Aegis Total Traceability
involves all materials used in the process. This
information is, by default, a full materials
report per unit.
-
Changes in materials bring
changes to the processing variables and process
windows. For this reason, Aegis also enables the
inclusion of process variables such as SPC
metrics, machine environment variables and any
key measurements pertinent to the material being
processed as part of the materials report.
Examples include reflow zone temperature
histories, soak time durations, peak
temperatures, etc.
