Outsource to Streamline NPI and Manufacturing Processes Within a Multi-Site FactoryLogix Environment

Manufacturing Plant

Outsource Electronics ltd (OEL) is a subsidiary of the Season Group International, a global electronics designer and manufacturer with facilities in the UK, Germany, Canada, USA, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia. OEL’s customers benefit from Season Group’s global capabilities in design, embedded systems, plastics, cable assembly, PCBA, complex electromechanical assembly, full system assembly, after market services, logistics and warehousing as well as TS16949 and ISO13485 approved facilities.

The Group now plans to use FactoryLogix in streamlining its NPI and manufacturing processes, and to set up a common MES system across multiple sites. This will facilitate exchange of data and sharing of licensing across several time zones. The NPI component is expected to handle varied data sets with ease, and to include machine programming capability. The collaborative engineering process is to be streamlined with task management.

FactoryLogix’ WIP tracking and manufacturing execution capabilities will electronically enforce product travel, ensuring that proper routing sequences are followed through the inspection and test steps.

Quality and test functions including defect tracking will be made more efficient with Aegis. The software will handle test and defect collection, and repair actions, electronically. Intelligent renderings of board ECAD images will be referenced. Work instructions will comprise intelligent paperless documentation; this will deliver revision-controlled manufacturing assembly instructions (MAIs) that leverage product ECAD data.

FactoryLogix’ WIP tracking and manufacturing execution capabilities will electronically enforce product travel, ensuring that proper routing sequences are followed through the inspection and test steps. These will include out-of-route stages, for example as used in repair and rework. Data will be collected from both human interfaces and directly from equipment; on Line 2, collection of lot level trace from SMD pick and place will also be implemented.

Analysis, reporting and visibility will also be upgraded. Aegis’ standard chart & report templates and real-time dashboards for visibility of key performance indicators will be used, without need for additional product training.

Software links to Diagnosys AOI, Yamaha iPulse M20 SMT placement, and generic test equipment will be provided.
