FactoryLogix adds Traceability for Stoll Electronic and Their Customers

Electronics Manufacturer

Stoll Electronic is a subsidiary of Stoll GmbH; a medium-sized German enterprise which for over 140 years has been manufacturing flat knitting machines for the textile industry. 65-75% of Stoll Electronic’s production facility is devoted to manufacturing electronic controls for the knitting machines, while the remaining 25-35% houses printed circuit board production, equipment assembly and cable assembly.

After around a year of discussion on traceability, Stoll Electronic has invested in an Aegis FactoryLogix system. This purchase has been motivated mainly by requests for traceability from external customers, but will also be used for control of the knitting machine production. The software will initially be applied to goods receiving, material labelling and notifying the ERP system of goods receipt, as well as within a MYDATA SMT assembly area. FactoryLogix will also be used for electronic control systems assembly, including functional test.

This purchase has been motivated mainly by requests for traceability from external customers, but will also be used for control of the knitting machine production.

Currently, about 200 different subassemblies are produced; these are integrated into about 20 different control assemblies. 450,000 assemblies are produced annually, consuming 40 million SMD components. This equates to 20,000 UIDs and 7000 final control assemblies.

The FactoryLogix installation comprises an NPI Core Bundle with Analytics, Production Core and Material Logistics modules as well as xLink adapters. Aegis’ software engineers will integratethe existing ERP system into the Materials Handling Area. Aegis will also provide installation effort and training for Stoll Electronic’s staff.
