Aegis Selected By Distron Corporation for Perfect Product Introductions

Electronics Manufacturer

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Aegis Industrial Software Corporation (Aegis), the leader in Manufacturing Information Management Systems has been selected by Distron Corporation (Distron) to install its CircuitCAM for Workgroups software as part of a recent major capital expansion to improve productivity and customer communication. CircuitCAM for Workgroups is Aegis’ New Product Introduction (NPI) software suite composed of the CircuitCAM and Checkpoint products connected to a central iServer for future seamless migration into the Aegis Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The New England manufacturer has recently invested over one million dollars in new plant equipment and personnel to expand its surface mount capacity while improving overall product quality.

A leading electronic contract manufacturer located in Attleboro Falls, MA, Distron specializes in small to medium circuit board and electro-mechanical assemblies for military and commercial clients. The installation of Aegis software will help them better communicate with customers and provide additional data/services. Other recent purchases made by Distron, and associated with this recent major capital expansion to increase capacity and capability, include a Mydata Synergy line, a 1800 Heller EXL reflow oven, new Ekra screen printer, Pillarhouse Jade S-200 Selective Solder Machine and Electrovert Econopak Gold Lead Free wave solder machine.

“Over the 35 years that Distron has been in business, we have listened to our customers and stayed current with changes in technology,” said Rob Donovan, President of Distron Corporation. “Investing in Aegis’ NPI Software will keep us on the leading edge of electronic manufacturing. It will allow us to provide expanded services to our current and growing customer base while realizing our goals of increasing our surface mount capacity and improving our overall product quality.”

Aegis is excited to play a role in Distron’s overall business strategy for growth and operational excellence.

Aegis’ NPI software simplifies process and product data introduction by creating color-coded manufacturing documentation to ensure process control and improves bill of material (BOM) accuracy by automatically revealing BOM errors and assisting component engineering. It also expedites offline machine programming processes by linking in real time with machine vendor component libraries. CircuitCAM and CheckPoint technologies allow for quicker translation of customer data with smoother uploading to machines and transfer from line to line while reducing employee time spent on such efforts.

“Aegis is excited to play a role in Distron’s overall business strategy for growth and operational excellence,” added Jason Spera, Aegis CEO. “By selecting Aegis to streamline their launch process to production, Distron demonstrates their holistic and well-developed approach to operating as a responsive link in their customers’ supply chains.”
